A 12-year-old Filipino won the gold medal at the poom sae event of the World Taekwondo Culture Expo held from July 4-11 in South Korea.
The poom sae category requires a participant to show the correct defensive and offensive form of taekwondo. This includes the way a participant forms his defense and throws his punches and kicks.
Douglas, who was picked as a last minute-replacement for the event, defeated her counterparts from the US, Japan and South Korea.
She also won the bronze medal at the sparring event where she competed with members of the Australian and Russian teams.
The 2nd World Taekwondo Culture Expo was attended by participants from over 50 countries including the US, China, Spain, France and Germany.
The powerhouse Philippine team sent to South Korea has won 21 gold medals, 21 silvers and 17 bronzes.
